As the Spruce Grove Saints rolled over opponents this past season en route to the Alberta Junior Hockey League title, it was easy to overlook the contribution of their starting goaltender.
Yet, had it not been for the heroics of Nolan Kent, it is unlikely Spruce Grove would have rolled through the playoffs and dispatched the Okotoks Oilers in five games in the AJHL final.
Kent, 19, was outstanding for Spruce Grove in the post-season and will need to be on his game again in the Doyle Cup series against the British Columbia Hockey League champions Wenatchee Wild to earn a spot into the RBC Cup junior ‘A’ national championship May 12-20 in Chilliwack, B.C.
