The Alberta Junior Hockey League and Viterra are proud to recognize volunteers from each member team through the Viterra AJHL Volunteer Profile.   At the end of the regular season, one volunteer in both the Viterra AJHL North Division & Viterra AJHL South Division will be presented with the Viterra Salute to Service Award recognizing their service and commitment to the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

  • Name: Barry Pozzo
  • AJHL Team: Drumheller Dragons
  • Volunteer Role: Pretty much everything since day one – assisted with billeting, Volunteer Coordinator, Security.  Main role is currently Head of Off-Ice Officials.
  • Number of Years Volunteering with Team: Since day one – 17 years!
  • Why I Volunteer: Sports has been in mine (and my family’s blood) since I can remember and just love the game of hockey (as well as other Sports).  I just get so much satisfaction from volunteering and helping out any way I can to give back to the sport, what it has given me.
  • Occupation: Retired since September 2018 after 35 years employed with Municipality of Town of Drumheller Public Works Department.
  • Favorite AJHL Memory: The Drop of the Puck on Opening Night in Drumheller in September, 2003, knowing that AJHL Hockey is alive and returned to Drumheller for real.
  • Favorite AJHL Player: Too many to name!  I feel each and every one of the players to don a Dragons’ Jersey in the past 17 seasons is most deserving of any recognition, and they have ALL been a part of my 17 seasons involved with the franchise.
