The Alberta Junior Hockey League and Viterra are proud to recognize volunteers from each member team through the Viterra AJHL Volunteer Profile.   At the end of the regular season, one volunteer in both the Viterra AJHL North Division & Viterra AJHL South Division will be presented with the Viterra Salute to Service Award recognizing their service and commitment to the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

  • Name: Dean Coleman
  • AJHL Team: Fort McMurray Oil Barons (The MOB)
  • Role: Off Ice Official
  • Number of Years: About 10
  • Why I Volunteer: Once my kids started to age out of their sports and activities, I started to look at other options for me to spend my time. I love watching sports live, and had been a Barons fan for years. I try to help out where and when I can in the community. I was helping in the beer gardens initially, but when that changed, I helped out taking tickets, then goal judging and then finally into the penalty box. Best seat in the house!
  • Occupation: Inside Sales for Motion Canada
  • Favorite AJHL memory: Probably being in Camrose to watch the Barons win the League championship in 2006. Yearly, I love the Teddy Bear Toss!
  • Favorite AJHL player: Changes almost every year. There are some great kids that come through here!
