On Monday, February 15th, the Alberta Junior Hockey League presented Colin Watt and Dwayne Yakuobow with a commemorative ring in recognition of their years of service as an AJHL official.
Colin Watt has been an active official since 2000 and became a referee in the AJHL in the 2008 season. He worked the league final and Doyle Cup in 2010 and has worked the league finals for five seasons. Colin was selected to work the World Junior A Challenge in 2014, Western Canada Cup in 2015 and the Royal Bank Cup in 2015. He has been an active member of the North Zone Referee executive for the past eight years.
Dwayne Yakuobow has been an active official for 25 seasons and is presently in his 15th season as a linesman in the AJHL. Dwayne has been selected to do numerous league finals as well as the Doyle Cup several times. He was also selected to work the Royal Bank Cup in 2011, the Western Canadian Cup in 2014. Dwayne also worked as a linesman in the Allan Cup in 2013. Dwayne has held several positions in the Referee Committee executive and has been a senior referee assignor for the past 8 seasons. He is the first linesman in the AJHL to receive a ring for his long-time service.
