The 2014 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup named it's award winners Friday evening at the Parkland Rec Complex in Dauphin.
Here are the winners:
Most Valuable Player
Brent Wold – Dauphin Kings
Wold is having a great tournament so far. After being a little quiet on the scoresheet through the first couple games, Wold exploded for five goals in his last two contests. That included the overtime game winner hatrick goal against the Winnipeg Blues in the round robin. Wold (5G, 2A), who hails from Lac Du Bonnet Manitoba, had seven points in the round robin at the WCC which tied him for first in the tournament!
Top Forward
Ryan Rosenthal – Coquitlam Express
Rosenthal is arguably the most powerful and impressive player at this Western Canada Cup. He carried the Coquitlam Express to a 2-0 record early on in the round robin and always makes opposing fans cringe when he has the puck flying down one of the wings. Rosenthal, who comes to the BCHL from Montvale New Jersey finished the round robin with three goals.
Top Defenseman
Channing Bresciani – Winnipeg Blues
After seeing him play throughout the Manitoba Junior Hockey League final and Western Canada Cup I think it's safe to say Channing Bresciani was easily the back bone of the Winnipeg Blues this season. The home town kid is out there for everything, power play, penalty kill and full strength and will no doubt be missed by the hockey club next season.
Top Goaltender
Jordan Piccolino – Dauphin Kings
Probably one of the most interesting characters I know, Jordan Piccolino always has a game face on when he's on the ice. Along with goalie Michael Stiliadis, Piccolino helped the Kings get to where they are today after being acquired on the trade deadline. The Montreal product concluded the round robin with a record of 3-0, a 2.66 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.
