Wolverines Justin Young Named Alberta Ford Dealers Player of the Month

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for December 2016 is Whitecourt Wolverines forward Justin Young.  In 7 games played through December, Young scored 6 goals and 9 assists for 15 points. 

Justin Young recorded six multi-point games in December.  On December 11th, he scored the game winning goal in a win over the Lloydminster Bobcats.  He was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game on December 17th with a 4-point game in a victory over the Sherwood Park Crusaders. 

Young, 19, leads the Wolverines in scoring with 49 points (20G, 29A) and is averaging 1.3 points per game.  He is third overall in the AJHL Scoring Race and has scored the third most game winning goals with 4.  Young is in his third full AJHL season with the Wolverines.

Justin Young (Leduc, AB) has committed to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for the 2017-18 season.

The Wolverines went into the Holiday Break after a 5-2 record in December.  They are first overall in the AJHL North Division with 56 points and a record of 26-9-4.

The Alberta Junior Hockey League is pleased to partner with the Alberta Ford Dealers Association and will recognize the AJHL Player of the Month throughout the regular season.  The AJHL and Ford also partner on the Alberta Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the Week.
