Wolverines look for billet volunteers

Without billets there would not be a hockey team in Whitecourt. That is what Joey Bouchard, general manager and head coach of the Wolverines, said at a banquet for volunteers on Aug. 8 at the Whitecourt Golf and Country Club.

Now that the Wolverines are a Junior A team, hockey players from a lot further a field will want to come and play in Whitecourt making billet families even more important said Bouchard.

“The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is one of the top two junior leagues in the country,” Bouchard said. “We are the elite. We will have players from everywhere coming to try to make our team. There are players from B.C. Ontario, Quebec and the United States that will be coming to our tryout camp in Leduc.”
