Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that forward Cole Wyatt (2000) has committed to the University of Nevada-Las Vegas for the 2021-22 season.
“We are very happy and excited to see Cole taking the next step in his hockey career,” said General Manager and Head Coach Adam Manah. “We had Cole for the final few months of the season, and he was a tremendous person in our dressing room. He had taken on a leadership role helping our younger guys and gave us some key minutes throughout the three cohort series.”
The University of Nevada-Las Vegas, located in Las Vegas, Nevada, is an American Collegiate Hockey Association program. Their 2020-21 season was cancelled due to COVID-19; however, the year before they finished with a 21-13-1 record. The Rebels are coached by Anthony Vignieri-Greener, who is heading into his seventh season as their head coach.
“Cole was a player that earned the respect of his teammates from his work ethic in practice, the intangibles he brought in games, and his skill set was noticeable every time he touched the puck,” continued, Manah. “He has earned this opportunity with UNLV. We know they will love him down there and what he can bring to the team on and off the ice. We wish him all the best moving on next year! Congrats to Cole and the entire Wyatt family.”
Wyatt joined the Crusaders after the League announced they were returning to the ice. He played in nine games for his hometown team. Before joining Sherwood Park, Wyatt spent the past two seasons in British Columbia with the West Kelowna Warriors (BCHL) and the Nelson Leafs (KIJHL). He finished his junior hockey career with 21 goals and 63 points in 71 games.
The Crusaders organization would like to congratulate Cole and his family on this accomplishment.
