Wynia named SUNYAC’s top rookie

Former Calgary Canuck and current Fredonia State freshman forward Jared Wynia (Calgary, Alberta) has been selected 2011-12 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in men’s ice hockey.

Wynia has played in 19 games this season heading into the Blue Devils’ semifinal game Saturday at Oswego. He ranks fifth on the team with 15 points on nien goals and six assists. Six of his goals have come on the power play, third best in the SUNYAC.

He is the third Fredonia State player to be named SUNYAC’s top rookie and the program’s first in 18 seasons. The others winenrs were goaltender Paul Kwiatkowski (1988-89) and forward Eric Preston (1993-94).
