2012 North Division Champion to be Crowned Tonight

The Spruce Grove Saints and Fort McMurray Oil Barons will meet in Game Seven of the 2012 AJHL North Division Final tonight at the Grant Fuhr Arena in Spruce Grove, AB. The winner will claim the title of Division Champion and advance to the AJHL Enerflex Cup Championship versus the South Division Champion Brooks Bandits.

The Saints quickly took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series with two home ice victories. The Barons then won three straight games against the Saints and became the first team in the series to win on the road with a 4-3 overtime victory in Spruce Grove in Game Five.

On Sunday night, the Spruce Grove Saints overcame a two goal deficit to send the series to game seven by beating the Barons 4-3 in front of a full house at the Casman Centre in Fort McMurray.

The 2012 North Division Final is a rematch of the 2011Division Final. The Saints won the 2011 North Division Title with a 4-game sweep and moved on to capture the 2011 AJHL Enerflex Cup. The Oil Barons and Saints met in the 2010 AJHL Enerflex Cup Final, which saw the Saints victorious in Game Seven.

The Brooks Bandits have advanced to the AJHL Enerflex Cup Finals for the first time in franchise history. The Bandits hold a perfect 8-0 post-season record. The Brooks Bandits also won the Dave Duchak Trophy as the 2011-2012 AJHL Regular Season Champions with a record of 47-7-6 and 100 points.

Round Four: League Final – April 6th – April 16th
The North Division Champion and the South Division Champion will compete in the League Final for the 2012 AJHL Enerflex Cup.

2012 Doyle Cup (AB / BC Championship)
A best of seven series, which will commence in Alberta on April 20th. The winner will represent the Pacific Division at the 2012 RBC Cup in Humboldt, SK from May 5th – 13th.
