â??â??Collett Commits to Cougarsâ??

The Calgary Mustangs are pleased to announce that 20 year old forward Connor Collett has committed to Mount Royal University. The Cougars are heading into their 3rd season in the very competitive CIS West and will be guided by new Head Coach Bert Gilling.

Growing up in Calgary, Connor began his hockey career in the Trails West Hockey Association before moving onto the SWAA Royals. His AJHL career began with the Okotoks Oilers and ended at home as a member of the Calgary Mustangs. In three full AJHL seasons Connor missed a total of only 5 regular season games, finishing with 116 points in 175 games.

“Connor is best appreciated by watching his work ethic and compete level day in day out, so it was nice to see him rewarded by scoring 61 points while being the only Mustang to play in all 60 games. Coach Gilling is getting a player with an elite level of consistency and the rare ability to play on any line in any situation,” said Mustangs Head Coach Derek Stuart.

“I am excited to be joining the Cougars for the upcoming season,” says Collett. “A big thank you to the Calgary Mustangs organization, especially Coach Stuart, and my parents for helping me get there”.

The Calgary Mustangs organization is very proud of Connor and would like to congratulate him and his family on this accomplishment.  Connor becomes the 4th Mustang to commit to a post-secondary school joining Jared Van Ree – Mount Royal University (CIS), Riley McDougall – UMass (NCAA), and Phelan Shaw – University of Minnesota-Duluth (NCAA).
