16 games are scheduled to hit the ice this Thanksgiving weekend that includes a number of North vs. South matchups.
Brooks Bandits
The Brooks Bandits will play a pair of inter-divisional games this weekend. Friday they will be in Canmore to battle the Eagles in the second matchup of the season between the two teams. Brooks defeated Canmore 5-4 in Brooks on October 4th. Saturday the Bandits will host the Drumheller Dragons. It will be the second of six meetings between the two teams this season. Brooks topped Drumheller 6-4 on September 20th.
Calgary Canucks
The Calgary Canucks will kick off a three game in three night north road trip. Friday the Canucks and Storm will meet up for the second of three meetings between the two clubs. The Canucks topped the Grande Prairie 4-3 at Showcase Weekend. Saturday the Canucks will travel to Whitecourt to take on the Wolverines in the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. Calgary defeated the Wolverines 3-2 at Max Bell on September 11th. Sunday the Canucks will finish off their road trip in Spruce Grove. It's the first of two meetings between the two clubs in the 2014/15 season. The Saints won both meetings last year.
Calgary Mustangs
The Mustangs will play a pair of home games this weekend. Thursday the Grizzlys will pay a visit to the Father David Bauer arena. It will be the second of seven meetings between the two clubs this season. The two teams met at showcase weekend; the Grizzlys topped the Mustangs 5-0 on September 26th (Showcase Weekend). Sunday they will host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in the first of two meetings between the two teams. Last year the Oil Barons took all three games from the Mustangs.
Camrose Kodiaks
The Camrose Kodiaks will also play twice this weekend, once at home and once on the road. For the third and final time this season the Kodiaks will meet up with Spruce Grove Saints. Although the Saints may not be happy about their third meeting in two weeks with the Kodiaks, Camrose is having won the previous games (1-0, 3-2) between the two teams. Saturday Camrose and Okotoks will meet up for the first of six meetings between the two teams. Last year the Kodiaks won two of three games at the Edgeworth Center.
Canmore Eagles
Canmore will play a pair of home games this weekend. Friday they will host the Brooks Bandits for the second of six meetings this season. Brooks took the first game between the two teams 5-4 on October 4th. Saturday the Fort McMurray Oil Barons will pay a visit to the Canmore Recreation Center. It's the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. Canmore edged Fort McMurray 5-4 on September 21st at the Casman Center.
Drumheller Dragons
Drumheller will play once at home and once on the road this weekend. Friday they will play host to the Fort McMuray Oil Barons for the first of two meetings between the two teams this year. Last year the two teams split their two games with both teams winning their home games. Saturday the Dragons will hit the road and take on the Brooks Bandits. It's the second meeting of the season between the two teams; Brooks took the first game 6-4 on September 20th.
Okotoks Oilers
The Okotoks Oilers will have a busy weekend with three road games in three days. Friday the Oilers will travel to Lloydminster to take on the Bobcats. Last year the two teams split their two meetings with both teams winning at home. Saturday the Oilers will travel to Camrose for the first of six meetings with the Kodiaks. Last year the Oilers and Kodiaks split their six game season series. Sunday the Oilers will wrap up their road trip in Drayton Valley to take on the Thunder. It's the first of two matchups between the two teams. Last year Okotoks won both matchups, outscoring the Thunder 10-1 in the two games.
Olds Grizzlys
The Olds Grizzlys will play three road games this weekend. Thursday they will be in Calgary to battle the Mustangs. It will be the second of seven meetings between the two teams this season. The Grizzlys won the lone matchup 5-0 on September 26th (Showcase Weekend). Saturday the Grizzlys will be in Grande Prairie to take on the Storm. It's the first of two meetings between the two teams this season. Both teams won in extra time (Storm in SO, Grizzlys in OT) on home ice last year. Sunday the Grizzlys will travel to Whitecourt to battle the Wolverines. Last year the Wolverines took both games from the Grizzlys.
Bonnyville Pontiacs
It will be a quiet weekend for the Bonnyville Pontiacs who will have the weekend off following Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Spruce Grove Saints. They will continue their four game home stand on Tuesday against the Whitecourt Wolverines.
Drayton Valley Thunder
The Thunder will play twice this weekend, once at home and once on the road. Saturday the Thunder hit the road to take on the Sherwood Park Crusaders for the second of six meetings this year. The Crusaders shutout the Thunder 3-0 back on September 19th. Sunday the Thunder return home to host the Okotoks Oilers. It's the first of two meetings between the two clubs this season. Last year the Thunder dropped both games to the Oilers.
Fort McMurray Oil Barons
The Fort McMurray Oil Barons will head south for a three games in three day's road trip. Friday they will pay a visit to the Drumheller Memorial Arena for the first of two meetings with the Dragons. Last year the two teams split their two games. Saturday the road trip continues for the MOB as they travel west to Canmore to take on the Eagles. It will be a chance of redemption for the Oil Barons who dropped a 5-4 decision to the Eagles earlier this season at the Casman Center. Sunday it will be off to Calgary for a matchup with the Mustangs. It's the first of two meetings between the two teams this year. Last year the MOB took all three games from the Mustangs.
Grande Prairie Storm
The Storm will play a pair of home games against the South Division this weekend. Friday they will host the Calgary Canucks. It's the second of three meetings between the two teams this season. Grande Prairie lost 4-3 to the Canucks on September 26th. Saturday they will host the Olds Grizzlys for the first of two meetings between the two teams this year. The two teams split the two games last year with both teams winning at home.
Lloydminster Bobcats
Just one game for the Bobcats this weekend. Friday they will host the Okotoks Oilers for the first of two meetings between the clubs. Last year the Bobcats defeated the Oilers at the Centennial Civic Center but lost in Okotoks.
Sherwood Park Crusaders
The Crusaders will play their lone game this weekend at home against the Drayton Valley Thunder on Saturday. It's the second meeting of the season between the two teams this year. Cameron Brezinski scored twice, and Tommy Nixon made 32 saves as the Crusaders shutout the Thunder 3-0 in Drayton Valley on September 19th.
Spruce Grove Saints
The Saints will play a pair of home games against the South Division this weekend. On Friday, they will host the Camrose Kodiaks for the third and final time this season. The Kodiaks have taken the first two games by scores of 1-0 and 3-2. Sunday the Saints will host the Calgary Canucks for the first time this season. Last year the Saints won both games against the Canucks last season.
Whitecourt Wolverines
The Wolverines will also play a pair of home games against South Division opponents. Saturday the Wolverines will host the Canucks. It's the second and final meeting of the season between the two teams. The Canucks edged the Wolverines 3-2 at the Max Bell Center on September 11th. Sunday it will be the first of two meetings between the Wolverines and Grizzlys. Whitecourt won both of their games against the Grizzlys last year including a 3-2 win at the Scott Safety Center.
