BIANCHET, COOTES AND ST LOUIS WIN AJHL WEEKLY AWARDS

AJHL leading scorer Jalen Bianchet is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week with six points over two wins on a South Division road trip last week. The Whitecourt Wolverines captain has built a five-game point streak totaling 11 points to take over top spot in the AJHL Scoring Race with 70 points (37G, 33A) in 41 games played.

Bianchet (2005) earned the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game award on January 30th with a goal and two assists to defeat the Canmore Eagles 5-3. The veteran forward led his team to a second consecutive road victory the next day with three assists in a 4-1 win over the Calgary Canucks. This is Jalen’s third Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week award in the 2025-26 season.

The Whitecourt Wolverines lead the Bunge AJHL North Division and the Canalta Hotels AJHL Standings with a record of 30-10-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) and 14 regular season games remaining.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Drumheller Dragons goaltender Sean Cootes with a 2-0 record from January 26th – February 1st, 2026 and wins in his last three starts.

Cootes opened a weekend double header versus the Bonnyville Pontiacs with a 5-2 win and 21 saves on January 30th, then held the Pontiacs to just one goal on 39 shots the following night in a 3-1 victory for the home team. The third year Dragon is in the Top 10 for both goals against average (2.99 GAA) and save percentage (.901%).

For a second straight week, Olds Grizzlys forward Jordin St Louis (Portland Winterhawks) is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week after extending his active point streak to six games and ten points.

The 2009-born rookie recorded a three-point game with a goal and two assists on January 30th and a 7-4 road win over the Drayton Valley Thunder. St Louis was awarded as the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game.

St Louis (Airdrie) is second in the AJHL Scoring Race, and second in team scoring, with 32 points (14G, 18A) in 37 regular season games.
