OKOTOKS, AB – The Okotoks Oilers are thrilled to announce that goaltender Brady Parker (Calgary, AB) has committed to attend and play for Clarkson University.
Located in Potsdam, NY, the Golden Knights play in the NCAA’s ECAC Hockey conference under eleventh-year head coach Casey Jones.
Despite the current shortened season, the 2000-born goalie has played in the fourth-most career games for a goaltender in franchise history, posting 54 wins, just 15 losses, and 4 overtime losses in 75 regular season games, with a career 2.37 goals against average and .905 save percentage, and three shutouts.
“This commitment speaks to Brady’s work ethic and dedication,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tyler Deis. “Over the last three years, we’ve seen how Brady battles and commits, and what a true competitor and professional he is.”
He joined the Oilers in the 2018-19 season, after playing his minor hockey with IHA in the CSSHL. Parker immediately made an impact for the Oilers, being named to the AJHL’s All-Rookie Team and playing in 54 total games between regular season and playoffs as Okotoks reached the AJHL South Final. He was also a finalist for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.
He followed that up with a 23-4-3 campaign for the first-place Oilers in the shortened 2019-20 season, and this year ranks third in the AJHL in save percentage at a career-best .935, posting a 4-1 record so far. In both prior seasons, he was one of four finalists for the AJHL’s Top Goaltender award.
“Besides his technical abilities and work ethic, Brady’s biggest growth has been in how he can control a game and its tempo,” Deis added.
“Clarkson is a great fit for Brady, not just based on its athletics but also its academics,” he said. “Brady’s high-end academic performance was key to him receiving offers from schools this season.”
The Oiler organization would like to congratulate Brady and the entire Parker family on today’s fantastic news, and look forward to following his continued progress and achievement at the collegiate level.
Parker is the 10th Oiler on the current roster committed to an NCAA Division I institution, joining:
