Brendan Wang Commits to Princeton University

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are excited to announce that 2002-born defenceman Brendan Wang (Burnaby, BC) has committed to attend and play for the Princeton University Tigers. Wang?s commitment to the prestigious NCAA Division I program in New Jersey will begin during the 2022-23 season.

?I am humbled and deeply honoured to be pursuing my studies and playing Division I hockey at Princeton University in 2022,? said Wang.

?What impressed me about Princeton was the strong emphasis it places on undergraduate education in an intimate setting. I am excited to learn from world renowned professors along with students from diverse backgrounds.?

Wang joined the Oil Barons this past offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Burnaby Winter Club Prep Team of the CSSHL.

The highly skilled defencemen appeared in 36 games with Burnaby last season, recording 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists), adding 41 points (six goals, 35 assists) in 35 games played in 2018-19.

To date, Wang has recorded two assists in four exhibition games with the Oil Barons this season.

?Since my first day here, I have received a warm welcome from the community of Fort McMurray and the Oil Barons organization,? added Wang.

?The organization has been supportive of my development, while my teammates have made me feel welcomed and part of a team. My billet family is absolutely amazing and has made the transition away from home a smooth one. I am extremely lucky and proud to be part of this first-class organization.?

The Oil Barons would like to congratulate Brendan and the entire Wang family on this tremendous accomplishment.
