Cam Maclise to be inducted into Bandits Wall of Fame at National Championship

BROOKS, AB ? Former Brooks Bandit captain and national champion Cam Maclise (Lacombe, AB) will be inducted into the Brooks Bandits? Smith Group Wall of Fame at the upcoming National Junior A Championship tournament, the team announced today.

Maclise will become the fourth inductee into the group, joining goaltender Chad Johnson, and Maclise’s two former linemates Anthony Paskaruk and Anthony Petruzzelli.

The induction will take place in a pre-game ceremony on Thursday, May 16th, prior to the Bandits? final round-robin matchup of the tournament against the British Columbia Hockey League champion Prince George Spruce Kings. Maclise himself will be on hand for the ceremony as well.

The team will wear special-edition jerseys designed specifically for the 2019 NJAC that night, with the jerseys auctioned off during the game on the arena concourse and net proceeds going towards the Legacy Fund for the event.

Maclise played three years for the Bandits from 2010 to 2013 and finished as the franchise?s all-time leading scorer with 216 points (85 goals, 131 assists) in 171 games. He led the team in postseason scoring when it won its first AJHL championship in 2011-12, but is best known for his captaincy in 2012-13 in which he was the first Bandit to win the national Player of the Year Award, leading the Bandits to their first-ever national championship and being named MVP at the tournament.

Since his Bandit career, he has won an Allan Cup with the Bentley Generals, played two years at Mount Royal University, and began his professional career first with the ECHL?s Colorado Eagles followed by the American Hockey League?s Manitoba Moose, with whom he split this year with the ECHL?s Jacksonville Icemen.

The Bandits look forward to welcoming Cam and his family back to Brooks, and creating a permanent tribute in the CRA to his incredible contributions to the franchise?s success.
