With 9 points in two games, Brooks Bandits forward William Lemay has been awarded as the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week.  Lemay scored 3 goals and 6 assists in two consecutive road games through the Viterra AJHL North Division on the weekend.

Lemay and the Bandits recorded their 18th consecutive win on Friday night in a 10-2 triumph over the Grande Prairie Storm.  The Bandits leading scorer scored a goal and 4 assists to record a season high 5-point game.  Saturday night saw the Bandits win a 19th straight game with a 7-0 shutout in Whitecourt.  Lemay had 2 goals and 2 assists in the victory, including his league leading 43rd assist, a lead he shares with three other AJHL scorers.

Lemay, 20, is second in the AJHL Scoring Race with 72 points (29G, 43A).  He is committed to the University of Vermont in the NCAA Division I for the 2019-2020 season.

The Brooks Bandits (43-3) are one win away from tying their 2012 franchise record for consecutive wins and just three wins away from clinching first place in the South Division and a first round bye in the playoffs.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is goaltender Colby Muise of the Bonnyville Pontiacs.  Muise recorded three wins last week, including his third shutout of the season, and launched the Pontiacs to the top of the Viterra AJHL North Division standings.  He would exit the week allowing just 3 goals on 98 shots.

Muise and the Pontiacs started the week on Wednesday against their division rivals, the Sherwood Park Crusaders, and came out on top in a 5-2 victory.  Muise stopped 34 of 36 shots in the win.  Friday night resulted in a Viterra Star of the Game award for Muise when he shutout the Drayton Valley Thunder 3-0 and turned away all 27 shots on goal.  The Pontiacs recorded their fourth consecutive win with an 8-1 score against Spruce Grove as Muise managed to stave off 34 shots.

Muise is 5th overall among AJHL goaltenders with a 2.38 GAA, 3rd overall with his .920 SV%, and boasts a record of 24-9-1.   The Pontiacs are first overall in the North Division with 13 games remaining.
