The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Okotoks Oilers forward Jack Works.   In two games last week, Works scored two hat tricks, two game winning goals, and picked up 8 points in two Oiler wins.

Jack Works, 18, was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game in both games played during the week of November 11th-17th.  He recorded his first AJHL hattrick on Friday night in a 6-4 win against the Canmore Eagles and added an assist in the win.  On Saturday, Works led the charge with his second AJHL hattrick and another assist to defeat the Drumheller Dragons 5-4.  Works scored the game winning goal in both Oiler victories.

The second-year Oiler leads the team in scoring with 36 points (18G, 18A) and is in the Top 10 of AJHL scorers.  He is enjoying an eight game goal streak alongside his team?s eight game win streak.   The Oilers are second in the Viterra AJHL South Division at 20-2-2.

Goaltender Eric Ward of the Drayton Valley Thunder is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.  The rookie goaltender recorded two wins for the Thunder last week, posting a 1.92 GAA in games versus two South Division opponents.

Ward (Edmoton, AB) has won three straight games to match the team?s current three game win streak.  On Friday, Ward backstopped the Thunder to a 3-2 shootout win versus Olds, allowing just two goals against.  Saturday night saw a larger gap in the final score as the Thunder defeated the Calgary Canucks 7-2.  Ward made 28 saves in the win.

Eric Ward is in the Top 10 among AJHL Goaltenders with a .903 save percentage.  The 18 year-old has won four of his last five starts and has a 4-1 record in November.
