The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Crusaders forward Tanner Younghans. Tanner scored 4 goals and 3 assists over three games during the week of September 19th – 25th.
Younghans scored the game winner on September 25th in a 6-2 win over the Canmore Eagles. He was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game on September 21st with a 3-point night as Sherwood Park defeated the Lloydminster Bobcats 6-1.
The 20 year-old from Leduc, AB is tied for second overall in the AJHL Scoring Race with 8 points (4G, 4A), and an average of 1.6 points per game.
The Sherwood Park Crusaders will play their next game on Wednesday night as they host the Spruce Grove Saints in a Pre-Showcase game. The 2016 AJHL Showcase will officially kick off on Thursday afternoon in Camrose, AB.
The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Brooks Bandits defenceman Dennis Cesana. The 18 year-old rookie recorded 5 assists and 6 points in 3 games played last week.
Dennis was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game on September 23rd after scoring the game winning goal in a 5-2 win over the Whitecourt Wolverines. He is tied for 2nd in scoring among AJHL defencemen and rookies with 6 points (1G, 5A).
Dennis Cesana (Providence, RI) has committed to Army of the NCAA Division I.
