The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Sherwood Park Crusaders Captain Arjun Atwal. The 19 year-old centre scored 3 goals and 7 assists in three victories for the Cru last week.
Atwal started the week with a game winning goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Drayton Valley on September 17th, and was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game. His weekend began with 2 goals and 4 points on September 20th, when leading his team to a 7-4 victory vs the Whitecourt Wolverines and concluded with another 4-point performance in a 4-1 win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. Atwal (Edmonton, AB) leads the Crusaders in scoring with 13 points (3G, 10A).
The Crusaders are undefeated with a 5-0 record to start the 2019-20 season.
Goaltender Kaeden Lane of the Grande Prairie Storm is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week. The 17 year-old was perfect with two shutouts and a 2-0 record over the week.
On September 17th, Lane stopped all 27 shots to blank the Whitecourt Wolverines and earn his first of two Viterra AJHL Star of the Game selections for the week. He followed up on September 21st with a second consecutive shutout, turning away 21 shots on goal by the Lloydminster Bobcats.
Kaeden Lane (Medicine Hat, AB) and the Storm are 4-1 after the opening two weekends of the regular season.
