Captain Brett Bamber commits to University of Alaska Anchorage

The Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL are pleased to announce that Thunder Captain Brett Bamber has committed to the University of Alaska Anchorage for the 2022/23 season.

The 5’9, 170 lbs defenceman from St. Albert, Alberta has been with the Thunder for fove years and has consistently been a premier defenceman in the AJHL.

“We couldn’t be happier for Brett and his family with his commitment to UAA, and we wish him nothing but success in the next chapter of his hockey career”, said coach Eric Thurston

“The commitment to UAA is a big accomplishment for me to further my hockey career playing NCAA Division I.     I’m excited to head north to a great hockey program and a wonderful school”, added Brett.

“I’d like to give a big thanks to Thunder Creek Hockey, Jeff and Alex ,as well as coach Thurston and the Drayton Valley team and organization.

I’d also like to thank the Anchorage coaching staff and my parents who have always been my biggest supporters and have sacrificed so much for me to fulfill a dream to play Div I hockey.”

“Alaska has recruited themselves a great player and an amazing person who brings his A game every time he steps on the ice”, added Thurston.

The Drayton Valley Thunder return to action December 30 vs the Fort McMurray Oil Barons @ 6pm at the Drayton Valley Omniplex.
