The Canmore Eagles are extremely proud to announce that 19-year-old forward Connor Wilson has committed to the University of Massachusetts Lowell for the 2015-16 hockey season. The University of Massachusetts Lowell is a Division 1 school in the Hockey East Division and went 22-11-6 last season.
During the 2014-15 Alberta Junior Hockey League season, Wilson led the Eagles in scoring with 25 goals and 42 assists in 55 games and finished fourth in the AJHL scoring parade. During his three-year regular season career in Canmore, Wilson played in 173 games and registered 47 goals, 100 assists for 147 points.
For Wilson, who received five different Division One offers, the scholarship from Lowell is a dream come true.
“I wanted to make sure that I had the right fit and the University of Massachusetts Lowell was my first choice, so it wasn’t a difficult decision to commit,” said Wilson, who will be joining longtime friend John Edwardh (former Okotoks Oiler) on the Lowell roster. “I am very honoured and excited to be joining the Umass Lowell River Hawks program. I would like to thank all who helped me achieve my dream including my, family, billets, teammates, trainers, Canmore Eagles staff and many more. Without all of these wonderful people I would not have been able to achieve my dream. Canmore offers a very unique and special program that no other town can offer. I feel very proud to have been called a Canmore Eagle.”
“We couldn’t be happier for Connor and his entire family,” said Eagles Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne. “Connor worked extremely hard to achieve his goal and it just proves that with hard work and commitment, good things can happen to anyone. The entire Wilson family has been incredibly supportive of the Canmore Eagles organization during the past three seasons and we are certainly going to miss them, but ultimately our goal is to get players scholarship opportunities and we have succeeded with Connor. We wish him the best of luck in both his studies and hockey career. He is going to a great school with an excellent hockey program.”
