SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce the hiring of Brenden Escott as our Play-By-Play Broadcaster and Digital Content Coordinator.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Crusaders family!” said Escott at the time of the hiring. “Since I moved to Edmonton last year and met some of the team personnel, I’ve wanted to be involved with this franchise. I look forward to being a part of this program and bringing my media experience and love for hockey to the broadcast booth.”
Escott, 23, is currently finishing his degree in Radio and Television Arts at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. In his time at NAIT, Escott has worked as the broadcaster for the NAIT Ooks, including calling their ACAC Championship game last season against MacEwan University. In addition to his time at NAIT, Escott is a graduate of Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC, where he earned his Bachelor of Journalism in 2016. He has also previously done work for Below the Ice, the hosts of Inside the Cru among other exclusive Crusaders content.
In addition to his broadcasting duties, Escott will also take over for Medak as the host of CrusadersTV.
“We're thrilled to add an individual like Brenden to our staff,” said Crusaders general manger Kyle Chase. “He's a talented broadcaster, and as someone familiar with our team he'll bring a unique insight to both our broadcast booth and our other media channels. While it was always going to be tough to replace someone as fantastic as Taylor Medak was for us, we feel we've brought someone in who will hold up to the high standard Taylor set.”
While Escott will be in the broadcast booth to start the regular season, Crusaders fans can still expect to hear Taylor Medak one more time, as his final Crusaders game will be during the 2018 preseason at a game to be announced upon the release of the 2018/2019 AJHL schedule.
Crusaders fans can expect to first hear from Escott on the hiring on this Thursday's edition of Inside the Cru with Tyler Yaremchuk.
