Crusaders Readman Commits to Northern Michigan

SHERWOOD PARK, AB – The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that 1998 born Forward Ty Readman (Edmonton, AB) has committed to the Northern Michigan Wildcats of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in Division I of the NCAA for the 2018-19 season.

“I think for me NMU was the easy choice once I had gone down for my visit.  The confidence the coaches showed in me and the plan they had for not only me, but the program as a whole, was really exciting and something I’m proud to be apart of now,” said Readman.

Located on the upper peninsula of the state in Marquette, MI, Northern Michigan University is home to 9,000 students.  The Wildcats, coached by first year Head Coach, Grant Potulny, have been a member of the WCHA since 2013-14 season and have a strong contingent of Canadian talent on their roster.

“We are extremely happy for Ty with his commitment to NMU.  He has taken big steps in development as a player in the last two seasons, and it’s no surprise to us that he is getting this opportunity,” said Crusaders Head Coach Adam Manah.

Readman, entering his third year in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, finished tied for the Crusaders lead in points in 2016-17 with 68 and is the highest returning scorer in the AJHL this season.

“He is dedicated on and off the ice in becoming the best player he can be, and for him to get an opportunity with a fantastic program is very exciting.  We are thrilled for him to be taking the next step in his hockey career,”  Added Manah.

Readman is the first player from the Crusaders 2017-18 roster to commit to a post-secondary institution.
