“Come for the Hockey, Stay for the Party”
Dauphin, MB – After over a year of preparation, the Host Committee in Dauphin, Manitoba is putting the finishing touches on the 2014 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup. Teams and fans will start to arrive tomorrow in the lead up to Friday’s Opening Ceremonies, with the first game taking place on Saturday, April 26th at 2:00pm. The action will continue through the week until the final game on Sunday, May 4th.
“Our committee has been working incredibly hard at making this event a success”, stated event co-chair, Randy Daley. “We had a great template to build on after hosting the 2010 RBC Cup, and we feel that fans and visitors from across western Canada will get a high quality product not only on the ice, but in terms of entertainment value as well.”
The five teams who will compete in the tournament have been confirmed by winning their respective league championships. The Dauphin Kings will act as the host team, while the Winnipeg Blues (Manitoba Junior Hockey League), Yorkton Terriers (Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League), Spruce Grove Saints (Alberta Junior Hockey League), and Coquitlam Express (BC Hockey League), round out the competition.
The Opening Ceremonies will be held on Friday, April 25th at 6:45pm in Credit Union Place, and is open to everyone free of charge. Later that evening, the party begins when Charlie Major kicks off the tournament with a concert at 10:00pm in the Countryfest Cabaret. Tickets are $30 and available from Dauphin’s Countryfest at 1-800-361-7300. The party will continue for the rest of the week with concerts after each game in the Countryfest Cabaret: concert tickets are $10 at the door, or free if you have a game ticket for that day.
13-Game Ticket Packages and Team Packs are still available for purchase until Thursday. Single game tickets for the round robin games will go on sale online on Friday, April 25th at 9:00 am CST or in person at noon at Credit Union Place. Individual tickets for the playoff and final games will go on sale the following Friday, on May 2nd.

The 2014 Western Canada Cup will include the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (host team) and the champion of each of the four CJHL western leagues. The 13-game tournament will include a round-robin schedule followed by a 3-game page play-off with the Western Canada Cup Champion and the Runner-up both representing western Canada at the 2014 RBC Cup National Junior A Championship in Vernon, BC.
