The Calgary Mustangs’ season ended with a thud in front of a small crowd at the Father David Bauer Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Drumheller Dragons reached double-digits in a 10-3 shellacking that completed a 3-0 sweep in their Alberta Junior Hockey League opening round series.
Drumheller went up 3-1 in the first and then poured in four straight in the second period.
“We tried to calm things down on the bench, but it just seemed to snowball beyond our control,” said Mustangs head coach Derek Stuart, who noted his young team, with as many as 17 returning players next season, plans to learn from the experience.
