Hamly Commits to the University of Alberta-Augustana

The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that forward Jack Hamly (1998) has committed to the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings for the 2019-20 season.

The University of Alberta-Augustana, located in Camrose, Alberta, is an ACAC program that finished with a 17-10-1 record last season. The Vikings are coached by Blaine Gusdal who has been with the University since the 2008-09 season.

?Jack (Hamly) was a fantastic contributor both in the room and on the ice in his short time with the Crusaders organization,? said General Manager, Kyle Chase. ?We wish Jack all the best in the future, as Augustana has acquired an incredible teammate and a very complete player.?

Hamly, 21, joined Sherwood Park last November after being acquired from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. The Sherwood Park native dressed in 33 regular season games for the Crusaders scoring 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) and then added 12 more games to his total in the playoffs scoring 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist). He finished his junior hockey career with 212 regular season games to his name and scored 112 points (48 goals, 74 assists).

Hamly is the eleventh Crusader to earn a post-secondary scholarship this season, joining Brayden Hyland (MacEwan University), Brandon Wallis (Concordia University), Carter Gylander (Colgate University), Will Zapernick (University of Alabama-Huntsville), Garrett Clegg (Robert Morris University), Zach Kaiser (University of Massachusetts Lowell) Brett Wieschorster (University of Vermont), Reid Irwin, Carter Savoie, and Michael Benning (University of Denver).
