The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 20 year old, Jarid Hauptman has committed to play for the Mount Royal Cougars for the 2015-16 season. The Cougars are a member of the Canada West Conference in the CIS.
A five year veteran in the AJHL, Jarid started his AJHL career in Drayton Valley before finding his home with the Saints in the 2012-13 season. In 210 regular season games to date, Jarid has tallied 60 goals, 102 assists for 162 points and 261 PIMS.
“I would like to thank the Spruce Grove Saints organization, coaches, teammates and staff, for helping me develop as a player and person over the past three years. Also I would like to thank my family and friends that have supported me throughout my junior career,” stated Hauptman. “The opportunity to play for Mount Royal University and continue my hockey and academic career is one that I am honoured and excited to accept.”
Head Coach/General Manager Jason McKee, “As a coach, it’s not very often that you get to use the words dynamic and responsible to describe a player, but that is exactly what Jarid has been for us. A major factor of our success, Jarid is a dynamic offensive player, but also is responsible and plays a 200 ft. Game. Jarid’s maturation in the past three seasons with our organization, both as a player and as a person, has been remarkable and very rewarding for our coaching staff. He will be leaving our organization as an elite level player, and we look forward to Jarid’s next step in his hockey career after this season, with an up and coming program in Mount Royal.”
The Saints organization would like to congratulate Jarid and his family on this step in his career, and wish him continued success moving forward, both athletically and academically.
Jarid is the 3rd Saint player committed to post secondary:
- Jarid Hauptman (Mount Royal University)
- Jordan Thomas (University of Alaska-Anchorage)
- Tyler Busch (Ohio State University)
