University of Vermont freshman goaltender Brody Hoffman has been named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Week along with Boston University goalie Matt O'Connor. The league announced its weekly award winners on Monday.
Hoffman picked up his first career shutout on Saturday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse, making 24 saves as Vermont collected its first win of the season over Providence. The rookie also stopped 24 shots on Friday night in a narrow 3-2 loss against the Friars in the home opener.
The Wilkie, Saskatchewan native has started all five games between the pipes for the Catamounts this season. He owns a 2.13 goals against average and a .929 save percentage and has only allowed seven even strength goals in his five appearances.
Vermont (1-2-2, 1-2-2 HEA) is back in action on Saturday (Nov. 10) as it travels to Durham, N.H. to take on No. 9 New Hampshire (5-1-1, 3-1-1 HEA) at 7 p.m. All the action can be heard live on WVMT 620-AM and online at SportsJuice.com as pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.
