Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines are proud to announce that 1998-born forward Jaedon Leslie has committed to Ohio State University (NCAA, Div I) for the 2018/2019 season.
The St. Albert, Alberta native Leslie is in his third season with the Wolverines and is coming off a season in which he set career highs in goals (15), assists (15) and points (30).
Leslie is off to a torrid start to this year as he leads the team in goals (5), assists (9) and points (14) through 9 games and currently sits 5th in league scoring. In 101 career games with the team he has produced 24 goals and 29 assists. He recently hit the 100 games played milestone, a game in which he recorded his first career hat-trick.
In previous years, Leslie has won team awards for being a fan favorite and for his outstanding humanitarian work in our community.
Leslie joined the Wolverines after playing in the St. Albert minor hockey system where he played at the midget-AAA, midget minor-AAA and bantam-AAA levels.
The Ohio State University Buckeyes play in the NCAA’s Big Ten Conference. They are coached by Steve Rohlik who is entering his fifth season behind the Buckeye’s bench. Last year, Rohlik guided OSU to their best season in nearly a decade going 21-12-6 and earning a birth in the NCAA tournament. The Buckeye’s hockey program has a storied history that dates all the way back to 1963 when they were first established as a varsity sport, in total they have made seven NCAA tournament appearances and have won two conference titles. The Buckeyes have an alumni list that contains names of several past and current NHL players, including Ryan Kesler (Anaheim Ducks) and R.J. Umberger (Philadelphia Flyers)
Leslie will join fellow AJHL alumni Kevin Miller, Matt Tomkins, Josh Healey, Tanner Fritz, Sam Jardine and Sasha Larocque as recent commits to the Ohio State program.
