Mathew Shatsky Commits To Holy Cross

Sherwood Park, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce that defenceman Mathew Shatsky (2001) has committed to the Holy Cross Crusaders for the 2021-22 season.

?Mat (Shatsky) has exemplified the exact type of person and player on and off the ice that we try to recruit to our organization,? said General Manager Kyle Chase. ?He has put in the work in all facets of his game and his education, and is very deserving of being rewarded a scholarship to Holy Cross.”

Holy Cross, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, is an NCAA Division I program that plays in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. The Crusaders are coached by David Berrard who has been with the school since the 2014-15 season.

Shatsky is now in his second season with the Crusaders. He joined Sherwood Park at the start of the 2019-20 season from the Winnipeg Wild in Manitoba.

Shatsky dressed in 43 games in his rookie season scoring two goals and 10 points. This season, the Winnipeg native had a strong pre-season, scoring five points in seven games and had played in three games in the regular season before it was postponed.

Shatsky is now the second Crusader from the 2020-21 roster to commit to an NCAA Division I program, joining Ty Mueller (University of Nebraska-Omaha).

The Crusaders organization would like to congratulate Mathew and his parents Charlene & Morley and the rest of the Shatsky family for his accomplishment.
