?The Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have relieved ??Matt Keillor of his duties as ??Head Coach and Associate General Manager with the Storm. After being promoted to Head Coach in the midst of the 2016-2017 season, Keillor led the Storm to 3 straight playoff berths, including advancing to the second round in 2017-2018.
?This wasn?t an easy decision to make; Matt played an integral role in bringing the Storm back to the playoffs, developing our team, and recruiting young talent,? said Mark Bomersback, General Manager of the Storm. ?We take pride in the program we are developing here in Grande Prairie, and we feel this is the best decision for our organization moving forward.?
Ryan Aasman will assume head coach duties for the remainder of the season as Interim Head Coach. A former first round WHL Bantam pick and veteran of over 250 junior games in the AJHL and WHL, Aasman brings a deep knowledge of the game to the Storm and an understanding of how to communicate with today?s young elite athletes.
?We have full confidence in Aasman,? said Bomersback. ?We are looking forward to watching the development of our players with him as Head Coach for the remainder of the season.?
Mark Bomersback will assume the role of Assistant Coach for the time being with Aasman taking over Head Coach duties.
