The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that Jonathan Turk has committed to the University of Vermont Catamounts.
Turk, a 20-year old forward from Calgary has played his entire three-year junior career with the Oilers. In 59 games played this season, Turk led the Oilers in all offensive categories recording 30 goals, 32 assists and 62 points while also leading the Oilers in plus / minus at +39. Turks impressive junior career includes leading the Oilers in career games played with 182 and 2nd among Oilers career scoring leaders with 153 points. Turk was also named to the 2011-2012 AJHL South Division All-League team.
Based in Burlington, Vermont, the University of Vermont Catamounts compete in the NCAA’s Hockey East Conference. Notable Catamount alumni include several NHL past & present stars like John LeClair, Martin St. Louis, Tim Thomas & Patrick Sharp. Turk becomes the third Oiler in the past two seasons to receive a scholarship to the University of Vermont joining Robert Hamilton and 2010-2011 AJHL Scoring Leader Kyle Reynolds. Turk becomes the 4th player on this year’s roster committed to a Division 1 NCAA program.
