Oilers Finalize Hockey Staff

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that Derek Stuart and Jeff Peters will be joining the organization as Assistant Coaches for the 2010 / 2011 season.

Derek Stuart joins the hockey club after spending the past 4 seasons as Assistant Coach for the Calgary Midget AAA Buffaloes. During that time, the Buffaloes saw tremendous success with Back-to-Back trips to the Telus Cup National Championships, which included 4th and 2nd place finishes. The Buffaloes also captured the prestigious 2008 Mac’s Midget Championship, becoming the first local team to capture the Mac’s in 10 years.

Jeff Peters joins the club after spending the past 2 years as Head Coach / General Manager of the Calgary Royals / Mustangs Junior A Hockey Club. During his tenure, Jeff’s hard work and commitment produced much improved results for the club, earning the clubs 1st playoff appearance in 3 years and narrowly losing out to the Camrose Kodiaks in a hard fought 5-game 1st round series.

Oilers GM / Head Coach James Poole stated, “I am very excited to announce the finalization of our staff and believe the addition of Derek & Jeff will provide a great hockey environment for our players to develop on & off the ice. Each person brings a great wealth of hockey knowledge, passion & commitment that will greatly benefit our players, our club & our organization. One of the first steps to gaining success as an organization is to surround yourself with good people and I know we have done that today!”
