Poulin to attend St. Thomas

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 20 year old defenseman Felix-Anotine Poulin has committed to St. Thomas University for the 2011/2012 season. Felix will suit up for the Tommies who play out of the Atlantic University Conference in the CIS. Poulin spent 3 years in the QMJHL before coming to the AJHL where he played for Drayton Valley earlier this season. Felix was acquired by the Saints at the trade deadline this season, he solidified the back end and helped the team reach an Enerflex Cup Championship for the second year in a row. Felix led all defensemen in the AJHL with 27 goals and 34 assists (61pts) and was nominated for the AJHL Defenseman of the year award.
“I am excited to be given the opportunity to continue my hockey career while attending post secondary education.” Poulin remarked. “It feels a little weird now that my Junior career is over but I am proud of my accomplishments and look forward to achieving more at the college level. I’d like to thank my parents Christian and Marie-Sylvie, my teammates, the Saints organization and the Myshak family for their kindness and support this season.”
“It took a tremendous amount of courage for Felix to come out West to pursue his hockey career,” praises Head Coach Jason Mckee. “We are excited for his opportunity to continue his career at a high level in the CIS.”
