Brooks Bandits forward Randy Hernández is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for October 2019.
Hernández scored 10 goals and 13 assists for a total of 23 points in 12 games through October. He recorded points in all but two games during the month and compiled an 8-game point streak. The 20 year-old leads the team in scoring with 29 points (13G, 16A) and is averaging 1.6 points per game.
The second year Bandit received four Viterra AJHL Star of the Game awards in October. The first honour came on October 11th when Hernández recorded a career high 5-point game with a goal and 4 assists in a 10-1 victory over the Calgary Canucks. On October 14th, Randy opened the scoring in a 4-0 shutout of the Lloydminster Bobcats, scoring two goals and the eventual game winner to earn the Player of the Game award. Hernández finished the month with two more Viterra AJHL Star of the Game selections with a 3-point game on October 19th in a 6-3 win over the Camrose Kodiaks, and a 3-point game in a 5-4 shootout win versus the Canmore Eagles.
Hernández was named the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for the week of October 7th ? 13th, when he scored 4 goals and 6 assists over three games.
The Brooks Bandits lead the AJHL Standings with an 18-0 record to start the 2019-20 regular season and are ranked #1 in the CJHL Top 20 National Rankings.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League is pleased to partner with the Alberta Ford Dealers Association and will recognize the AJHL Player of the Month throughout the regular season. The AJHL and Ford also partner on the Alberta Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the Week.
