Tyler has demonstrated commitment to being a team leader on and off the ice. Throughout this season, he has volunteered with teammates at local elementary schools, teaching floor hockey to the students.
“We really enjoyed introducing the kids to hockey by teaching them new skills as well as showing them that working hard and being part of a team are important skills to have in life,” said Tyler. “We also spent time making gift bags to pass out to the less fortunate at Christmas time, and had representatives help out at the STARS banquet to set up for one of their fundraisers.”
He is welcoming to new players and staff members and truly brings out the best in others. As an ambassador of the team, Tyler says “I am honoured to have been selected as the RBC community ambassador for my team and am proud of the engagement we have had in the community throughout our season. Thanks for this opportunity.”
Each AJHL team will nominate one player who has shown exemplary commitment to community service to be recognized as an AJHL RBC Community Ambassador – all 16 athletes will make up the 2018-19 AJHL RBC Community Ambassador Team! At the conclusion of the regular season, one AJHL RBC Community Ambassador will be selected as the recipient of the RBC Community Award.
