The Camrose Kodiaks will have to watch tomorrow’s 2011 RBC Cup final from the sidelines as the local squad was eliminated 4-2 by the Pembroke Lumber Kings in a heartbreaker May 7 at the Edgeworth Centre.

The Kodiaks were down 2-0 early in the game and wouldn’t answer back until the second period. Rylan Wiest would score for the Kodiaks in the second period to bring things within one goal.

Wiest would score again in the third, but the Lumber Kings would once again take the lead with a goal from Stefan Salituro. Kings’ Mitchell Gallant would seal the deal with an empty netter at the end of the third period.

The Kings move on to play the defending champion Vernon Vipers who dispensed of the Wellington Dukes 4-1 in the other semifinal.

The 2011 RBC final is May 8 at 6 p.m. at the Edgeworth Centre. Tickets are still available for the game.
