Chris Van Os-Shaw of the Spruce Grove Saints is the winner of the 2018 Viterra Cup with 15 Viterra AJHL Star of the Game selections in the 2017-2018 season. Chris received the honour nine times as a member of the visiting team and six times on home ice.
Van Os-Shaw is also the 2017-2018 AJHL Scoring Champion and League MVP. He completed the regular season with 51 goals, 46 assists and 97 points, surpassing the 50-goal mark in his final week of the regular season. The Saints forward led the league in goals, points, average points per game and with 8 game winning goals.
The 20 year-old has committed to the NCAA Division I University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves.
Chris Van Os-Shaw is the first Saints player to win the Viterra Cup since the award was introduced in the 2010-2011 season.
Each of the 480 AJHL regular season games conclude with the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game Award, which recognizes a player from each team deemed to be the game’s top player. Every time a player is recognized as a Viterra AJHL Star of the Game throughout the regular season, they will receive 5 points in the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game Standings.
