Saints Look to Avoid Elimination Against Bandits

With their playoff lives at stake as they return home for Game 5 on Friday night, the Spruce Grove Saints are hoping history repeats itself against the Brooks Bandits — with a little twist.

In order for the Saints to win their third straight Alberta Junior Hockey League championship, they’re going to have to beat the high-powered Brooks Bandits three straight games.

The last time the Bandits lost three straight games? In last year’s AJHL Final against the Saints, who prevailed in six games to win their second straight AJHL title.

“They’re a great team. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ve had guys who have been through this type of adversity before where we’re down 2-1, 3-1, 3-2 in a series. They’ve lived it, and have come back to win a championship,” said Saints GM and head coach Jason McKee.
