Savoie, Benning & Edwards Make NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings

NHL Central Scouting revealed its midterm rankings of the top North American and International skaters and goaltenders on Monday.   Sherwood Park Crusaders forward Carter Savoie, defenceman Michael Benning and Spruce Grove Saints rookie defenceman Ethan Edwards were identified as prospects ahead of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Carter Savoie is listed at #53 with teammate Michael Benning close behind at #60 and Ethan Edwards at #85 among North American skaters.   The three NHL prospects are all products of St. Albert, AB.

Savoie, Benning and Edwards will participate in the 2020 CJHL Prospects Game in Hamilton, Ontario on Tuesday, January 14th alongside nine representatives from the AJHL.

Dylan Holloway, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin, is No. 10 on the list and the highest-ranked NCAA Division I skater. The 6-foot, 203-pound center has seven points in 17 games.

The 2020 Draft will be held at Bell Centre in Montreal on June 26-27.

A total of 90 players have been selected in the NHL Entry Draft directly from the Alberta Junior Hockey League and 21 AJHL Alumni have went on to win the coveted Stanley Cup. Brooks Bandits defenceman Cale Makar made history as the highest drafted AJHL Player when the Colorado Avalanche selected him 4th overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
