Calgary Canucks Captain Bowden Singleton is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for December 16th-22nd, 2024. The 2004-born forward and Tennessee State University commit led the AJHL in scoring with 10 points (4G, 6A) in three games prior to the Holiday Break.
The Calgary Canucks recorded three consecutive wins beginning on December 17th with a 7-2 win versus the Olds Grizzlys and a two-point game (1G, 1A) for Singleton (Calgary, AB). On December 20th, he added an assist in a 3-1 victory over the visiting Grande Prairie Storm. Singleton wrapped up the week with seven points (3G, 4A) and the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game award in an 8-2 home win versus the Storm. He was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game in the victory.
The Calgary Canucks lead the AJHL in Goals For with 131 and are second in the Viterra AJHL South Division standings.
The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Canucks teammate Alexey Trischuk (2004) with four points in two games. The veteran AJHL defenceman recorded a goal and two assists on December 17th vs Olds and added another assist in the December 22nd win for his hometown Canucks.
Trischuk is third in scoring among AJHL defencemen with 20 points (6G, 14A) in 32 games played.
For a second consecutive week, the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is Drumheller Dragons forward Easton Daneault (Red Deer, AB). The 16 year-old rookie is on a four-game point streak totaling 10 points after recording four points in two games to wrap up the season before the Holidays.
Daneault (Merrimack College / Lethbridge Hurricanes) scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 loss to the Canmore Eagles on December 20th. He scored another goal and an assist the following night and in a 6-3 win over the visiting Devon Xtreme and was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game.
Daneault now has eleven multi-point games and is second in AJHL rookie scoring with 34 points (12G, 22A) in 32 games played.
