Slobodian now an Ookpik

20 year old defenseman Jesse Slobodian will be a member of the NAIT Ooks in 2011/2012. Jesse finished his 3rd year with the Saints after helping his team win back to back Enerflex Cup Championships. The 6’5 D man played 160 games in a Saints uniform generating 38 points and 280 pims. Jesse was the lone returning defenseman from last year’s championship team and became the cornerstone of the defensive core throughout the season and playoffs.
“These past 3 years have been the best years of my life so far,” commented Slobodian. “I played on 3 great teams and captured 2 championships, everyone involved helped me get to this next level where I have an excellent opportunity to further my hockey career. I am excited to be a part of a program that has a solid history and a bright future. I’d like to thank the Saints organization, my teammates and coaches, and my parents Miles and Chrisanthia for their never ending support.
“Jesse has been with us for the past 3 years and has grown into a defenseman’s defenseman. He was a part of 3 great teams and 2 Cups. His leadership and determination exemplifies what it means to be a Saint. He is a player that doesn’t need to show up on the score sheet to make a significant impact in the game. We wish him all the best in his future aspirations.”
