Lloydminster, AB – The Lloydminster Bobcats are proud to announce Matthew Syverson has committed to Lindenwood University NCAA Division 1 for this fall! Syverson just completed main camp this weekend and will make his way to Lindenwood to begin play immediately.
Last season Syverson posted 3.63 goals against and a .877 save percentage after taking over the starting position in January. “It is a unique situation as Matty just wrapped up main camp with us this weekend but an opportunity for him to advance his hockey and education at the division one level. As an organization we are here to move players on the next level, we were excited to have him back and now looking forward to what he can do this season for Lindenwood” stated Bobcats General Manager Nigel Dube.
Syverson shone for the Bobcats in the playoffs posting a .900 save percentage and being named the teams unsung hero. “Lloyd has been a second home to me. I am super grateful for every moment of my hockey career and life that has been spent here in Lloydminster. It will always be special place to me” commented Syverson.
Bobcats Goalie Coach Sheldon Goertzen developed two NCAA Division I goalies last season, with the prior year having the AJHL Goalie of the Year Kolby Thornton. “Matty’s commitment speaks to the development and impact Sheldon has with our goalies, he continues to prepare them for the next level of hockey. Matty’s development through the season was very evident down the stretch and into the playoffs.
The Bobcats will start preseason hockey on Friday as we host the Bonnyville Pontiacs for a 7:00PM puck drop. Download the Lloydminster Bobcats APP for all smart phones to stay up to date on all things Bobcats!
