Fort McMurray, AB (February 28, 2021) – The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are thrilled to announce that 2002-born defenceman Taige Harding (St. Albert, AB) has committed to Providence College.
The hulking, six-foot-seven, 235-pound defenceman is currently in his second season with the Oil Barons. Over that span, Harding’s game has excelled and he’s become known for his powerful slapshot from inside the blue line.
Before a pause for COVID-19 in November, Harding recorded three points in four regular season games.
He becomes the seventh Oil Baron to commit to a post secondary school this season. He joins Brendan Wang (Princeton, NCAA), Michael Hodge (Union College, NCAA), Ty Mosimann (Marian University, NCAA), Luke Harive (Nichols College, NCAA), Konrad Belcourt (Red Deer, ACAC) and Max Struss (Vancouver Island, BCIHL).
Harding’s arrival to the NCAA Division I program in Rhode Island will be determined at a later date.
The Oil Barons would like to congratulate Taige and the Harding family on this accomplishment.
