Junior forwards Tanner Ockey and Mason Bergh will serve as co-captains of the Colorado College hockey team for the 2017-18 season, head coach Mike Haviland announced today. Junior defensemen Andrew Farny and Cole McCaskill will be the assistant captains.
“With no seniors on the team this upcoming season, it allowed us to take a good look at the leadership of our team,” Haviland said. “These four really stood out last year and have exhibited the qualities on and off the ice we are looking for in our captains.”
Ockey (Calgary, Alberta) is the only returning Tiger to appear in every game the last two seasons. He had one goal and eight assists last year and led the team with a 49.2 faceoff winning percentage. For his career, Ockey has 14 points (3g,11a) in 72 games.
“Tanner's work ethic and passion every day is something that is contagious and vital to our culture,” Haviland said. “He gives 150 percent on the ice, in the classroom and in the gym; he truly leads by example.”
