The Alberta Junior Hockey League is proud to announce Tim Ellis as the recipient of the inaugural AJHL Broadcaster of the Year Award. The newly formed award will be presented annually to an individual serving as the broadcaster for one of the 12 AJHL teams to recognize broadcast skill and preparedness, professionalism and overall contributions to the team and league.
Tim Ellis has been a cornerstone of the Kodiaks organization since 2007 and has become a trusted and respected voice across the league. Tim’s broadcasts are the perfect blend of insightful play-by-play, deep league knowledge and genuine passion for the game.
“After nearly two decades behind the mic, Tim Ellis continues to elevate the standard for junior hockey broadcasting,” said Kodiaks General Manager Eric Kroetch. “His long-standing commitment, unmatched consistency, and storytelling ability make him not only the voice of the Camrose Kodiaks, but one of the very best broadcasters in Canadian junior hockey.”

His preparation is meticulous — he studies team trends, player stats and storylines well ahead of each broadcast to ensure fans receive an informative, accurate and highly engaging experience. Whether it’s a fast paced playoff battle or a weeknight regular season game, Tim brings consistent energy and polish to the mic. Tim represents the Kodiaks and the AJHL with the utmost professionalism. He maintains strong working relationships with coaches, players and opposing teams which earns him widespread respect throughout the AJHL.
The AJHL Broadcaster of the Year Award recipient is determined through a voting process including each AJHL team and the broadcasters of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
