UW-Superior’s Faryna Earns Men’s Player of the Week

UW-Superior forward Justin Faryna (Calgary, AB / Drumheller Dragons, AJHL) has been selected Player of the Week in the NCHA Men’s Division for his efforts last weekend against UW-Stout. Faryna recorded seven points in the two game sweep of the Blue Devils.

The Yellowjackets came into the series looking to keep pace in the conference standings and Faryna provided a punch that helped UWS do just that. On Friday night Faryna notched a goal and three assists as UW-Superior won 7-2. His assist at 19:17 of the second period came just after the Blue Devils had scored two straight and were staging a comeback.

Saturday night featured plenty of scoring by both teams as well, with Faryna getting his name all over the score sheet. He scored twice and assisted once in the 8-6 road victory. His goal at 6:32 of the third proved to be the game-winner as UW-Stout went on to score two goals of their own with the extra attacker on. Faryna assisted on a goal at 16:38 of the second and scored just over a minute later to put UWS up 6-2.

The seven points over the weekend vaulted Faryna into a tie for first in season scoring for the Yellowjackets with 16 points. The sophomore has notched at least a point in five straight games.
