Spruce Grove, AB – The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 1997 born forward Chris Van OS-Shaw has committed to play for the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves for the 2018-2019 season.
The Seawolves are members of the NCAA Division 1 WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) and are located in Anchorage, Alaska.
Van OS-Shaw, a native of Regina SK, leads the Saints in scoring and sits in 2nd place in AJHL scoring with 25 goals and 17 assists in 29 games.
“Chris has come in and made an immediate impact both on and off the ice for our organization,” said Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk. “His work ethic and commitment to improving his already immense skill set has been second to none. We are so thrilled for the opportunity that Chris has earned.”
Van OS-Shaw was acquired by the Saints this pre-season from Humboldt of the SJHL. In 96 career SJHL games the 6’3”, 206 lb forward amassed 100 points, tallying 52 goals, and 48 assists for a 1.04 points per game average.
President Ryan Smyth had this to say about the recent Seawolves commit. “Chris is special player with a shot and goal scoring ability few players posses. We are fortunate to have him and his family as a part of our organization. We have no doubt he will continue to succeed as a player and person as he is an outstanding young man.”
