Wolverines, Grizzlys, Crusaders and Thunder Win on Final Day at AJHL Showcase

BROOKS, AB – The 2021 AJHL Showcase in Brooks came to a close on Sunday with four games, with two matches needing extra time to determine a winner.

Whitecourt 6, Canmore 3

Players of the Game: Christiano Aiello (WHI), Ethan Schaeffer (CAN)

Despite surrounding the first goal, the Whitecourt Wolverines picked up another win at the Showcase. Cohner Saleski scored two in a 6-3 win.

Olds 4, Bonnyville 3 (OT)

Players of the Game: Tyler Green (OLDS), Sebastian Tamburro (BONN)

Noah Hackett of the Grizzlys scored the overtime winner as Olds survived blowing a 3-1 lead to the Pontiacs to earn their first win of the season.

Sherwood Park 5, Drumheller 4 (SO)

Players of the Game: Zac Maxwell (SHER), Garret Fuller (DRU)

The Crusaders erased a 3-1 deficit late in the 2nd period and a 4-3 deficit in the 3rd period. After having a potential go-ahead goal waved off due to goaltender interference, the game went to overtime. In the extra period, Carmelo Crandell was denied a penalty shot opportunity. In the shootout, Logan Hauer scored the winner.

Drayton Valley 5, Calgary 2

Players of the Game: Kadyn Chabot (DV), Aidan Moore (CGY)

A high scoring 1st period saw the Thunder take a 3-2 lead and never relinquish after that. Kaydn Chabot had two goals, and the Thunder move into first place in the AJHL with the win.
